Description

  • Conduct patient intake and gather relevant medical information for rheumatology patients.
  • Update medications, allergies, medical history, diagnoses, and provider comments in NextGen EMR.
  • Document consultation and follow-up visit details accurately and support chart preparation during patient visits.
  • Schedule appointments, manage provider calendars, and send reminders for follow-up care.
  • Communicate with patients, providers, pharmacies, laboratories, and external healthcare organizations.
  • Verify insurance eligibility and benefits and process prior authorization requests and related documentation.
  • Assist with claims follow-up, insurance record maintenance, and other insurance-related administrative tasks.
  • Support medication orders, prescription workflows, refill requests, referrals, and laboratory order processing.
  • Manage patient correspondence by phone, email, and text while maintaining organized documentation.
  • Cross-train in additional office functions and assist with workflow improvements and operational support.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a healthcare role such as Medical Assistant, Medical Receptionist, Medical Administrative Assistant, Medical Scribe, Patient Care Coordinator, Nurse, Pharmacist, or Pharmacy Technician.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare workflows, patient communication, and medical terminology.
  • Experience supporting providers in a clinical or medical office setting.
  • Experience working with EHR/EMR systems is required; NextGen EMR experience is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to accurately update patient histories, medications, allergies, diagnoses, and provider notes.
  • Strong documentation accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Experience with insurance verification, eligibility checks, and prior authorizations.
  • Familiarity with claims processing and healthcare administrative workflows; Availity or similar insurance platform experience is preferred.
  • Excellent spoken and written English communication skills with strong phone etiquette and patient-facing communication.
  • Must have relevant work experience and be able to provide an NBI clearance and/or Local Police Clearance before onboarding.
  • Must be available for video meetings with camera on and remain on camera for the full shift.
  • Reliable laptop or desktop, high-speed internet of at least 25 Mbps, noise-canceling headset, webcam, and a quiet professional workspace.
  • Prior experience in rheumatology or another specialty medical practice is preferred.
  • Experience supporting clinical documentation and diagnosis coding workflows is preferred.
