Description

  • Submit and monitor insurance claims to ensure accurate and timely reimbursement.
  • Post and reconcile insurance and patient payments.
  • Perform accounts receivable follow-up with insurance companies to resolve unpaid or underpaid claims.
  • Investigate claim status, payment discrepancies, and outstanding balances.
  • Assist with patient billing inquiries as needed.
  • Review denied and rejected claims in Athena EHR, research denial reasons, and implement corrective actions.
  • Prepare and submit claim appeals with supporting documentation.
  • Correct billing, coding, or eligibility issues and resubmit claims.
  • Track denial trends, maintain documentation of resolutions, and generate billing, collections, and revenue reports.
  • Assist with revenue reconciliation and identify opportunities to improve collections and cash flow.

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of proven experience in medical billing and revenue cycle management.
  • Strong background in denial management, claim appeals, and accounts receivable follow-up.
  • Experience with Athena EHR/Athenahealth is required.
  • Knowledge of insurance verification, claim processing, and CPT/ICD coding concepts.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently manage billing backlogs.
  • Excellent attention to detail and communication skills.
  • Must be proficient in speaking and writing English clearly.
  • Must have relevant work experience and be able to submit an NBI clearance and/or Local Police Clearance before onboarding.
  • Must be available for video meetings with camera on when needed.
  • Reliable laptop or desktop computer required.
  • High-speed internet connection required, with a minimum of 25 Mbps.
  • Noise-canceling headset and webcam required.
  • Must have a quiet, professional workspace.
