Description

  • Shape the Wikimedia Foundation’s product security strategy and security culture.
  • Prioritize and direct a team of engineers focused on security and privacy.
  • Work with designers, data scientists, community managers, and other cross-functional partners on security initiatives.
  • Drive the design and development of features and interventions that improve user safety and deter bad actors.
  • Communicate clearly and strategically with community members in public and private settings.
  • Build relationships with volunteers and serve as a bridge between the Wikimedia community and Foundation on security and privacy issues.
  • Partner with leaders across departments to improve the organization’s information security posture.
  • Stay current on developments in online security and privacy, including vulnerability research and development.

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of professional experience working on product-building teams.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a security-focused role.
  • Experience driving major security initiatives to completion in a senior technical or product management capacity.
  • Significant professional experience using AI-based tools for security analysis and technical tasks such as code review and software engineering.
  • Comfort using and learning command-line-based tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively across management, staff, and communities.
  • Ability to manage a diverse range of responsibilities in a dynamic, results-oriented environment.
  • Belief in Wikipedia and its community model as a positive force.
  • Ability to make decisions quickly despite a complex stakeholder environment, including volunteers.
  • Experience working with online communities, especially public ones.

  • Annual salary range of US$133,121 to US$207,388 for U.S.-based applicants.
