Description

  • Design data solutions for batch, streaming, and real-time workloads.
  • Design, build, maintain, and scale pipelines using Spark, Kafka, Iceberg, Airflow/MWAA, Druid, and EMR on EKS.
  • Evolve data lake and platform patterns across ingestion, processing, storage, and serving.
  • Implement data quality, observability, reliability, and governance across data systems.
  • Define event instrumentation standards, including schemas, validation, and schema evolution.
  • Build centralized solutions for PII handling, retention, deletion, and data residency supporting GDPR and CCPA.
  • Develop AI agent harnesses that encode data engineering standards, pipeline patterns, and quality gates.
  • Troubleshoot production issues, contribute hands-on to complex initiatives, mentor engineers, and collaborate with Analytics Engineering.
  • Lead data engineering initiatives from technical design and decomposition through implementation and production.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience building and operating production data pipelines and platforms.
  • Strong experience with Spark and distributed data processing.
  • Experience designing batch, real-time, and streaming solutions using Kafka, Spark Structured Streaming, or CDC.
  • Experience with data quality, observability, reliability, cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code.
  • Strong programming and SQL skills.
  • Experience with data governance, privacy, PII management, retention, deletion, data residency, GDPR, or CCPA.
  • Experience with event instrumentation, schemas, validation, and schema evolution.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity, evaluate architectural tradeoffs, and make pragmatic technical decisions.
  • Experience leading complex data engineering initiatives and collaborating on engineering best practices.

  • Base salary of $186,500–$255,000 depending on geographic pay zone, experience, and qualifications.
