Description

  • Conduct objective, fair, thorough, evidence-based, unbiased, and timely investigations into reported copyright infringement cases.
  • Review and determine the validity of DMCA notices and take appropriate action to support Copyright Act compliance.
  • Enforce Wattpad’s Terms of Service and Community Guidelines in day-to-day case handling.
  • Work through daily Zendesk buckets, team-specific queues, and staff escalations.
  • Escalate reports to the relevant internal teams when further action is needed.
  • Perform active platform searches and investigate well-known infringing works.
  • Identify trends and current events to support strategy adjustments, policy research, and analysis.
  • Collaborate with Trust & Safety and Community Support teams to track and resolve bugs and technical issues.
  • Handle occasional project-based work and adapt to changing team needs.

Requirements

  • Good understanding of Canadian and U.S. copyright law.
  • Experience answering user reports.
  • Ability to work flexibly and adapt quickly to changing priorities.
  • Commitment to give and receive feedback with empathy and in a timely manner.
  • Comfortable performing repetitive, monotonous work on a daily basis.
  • Familiarity with Zendesk and Google Suite is an asset, but not required.
  • Authorized to work in Canada, excluding Quebec, as a condition of employment.
  • Ability to work as an independent contractor.
  • Toronto/Greater Toronto Area presence with the ability to work from the downtown Toronto office in a hybrid setup.
