Description

  • Lead a small team of DevOps engineers, providing technical direction, mentorship, and ownership.
  • Be accountable for the uptime, security, proper operation, and cost-effectiveness of infrastructure supporting millions of active users and petabytes of UGC.
  • Design, plan, and implement IT and hybrid-cloud infrastructure to support the platform’s evolution, working closely with IT, server, client security, and other stakeholders.
  • Perform hands-on day-to-day operation, maintenance, and tuning of infrastructure to keep services running with high reliability, security, and cost efficiency.
  • Manage incidents and conduct root cause analysis, including responding during off-hours when necessary.
  • Ensure the implementation and maintenance of robust security controls and best practices across systems.
  • Automate and improve monitoring systems, tooling, and operational processes.
  • Coordinate and communicate within the team and with internal stakeholders and external vendors to resolve issues and execute projects.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of proven DevOps leadership experience in a high-growth consumer-facing company, preferably in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Experience with hybrid cloud environments and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, Terragrunt, OpenTofu, and octoDNS.
  • Experience designing, building, and maintaining highly available and reliable network infrastructure and networking tools (e.g., Wireguard, Tailscale).
  • Experience maintaining DDoS protection and intrusion detection/prevention systems from vendors such as Cloudflare and AWS CloudFront/AWS Shield/AWS WAF.
  • Experience with content delivery networks (CDNs) and clustered datastores such as MongoDB, Redis/Valkey, and MySQL.
  • Proven experience in proactive system hardening, participating in technical security audits, threat-hunting, and rapid operational/security incident response and mitigation, including coordination with security, legal, and PR teams.
  • Strong knowledge of REST web applications, API endpoint security, and scripting, including Golang and Node.js.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity and IT frameworks and standards (MITRE ATT&CK, COBIT, ITIL) and compliance standards (ISO27001/27002, SOC2, IG2).
  • Preferred experience with realtime multiplayer game engines or real-time networking (e.g., Photon), MMORPGs, or C# application security.
  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to articulate and evangelize concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders, with willingness to participate in off-hours incident management when needed.
