Description

  • Develop, implement, and maintain new features for the VRChat platform and internal operations team.
  • Build UI/UX and backend systems that support moderation, safety, and support workflows.
  • Improve safety systems with attention to cost, user privacy, usability, stability, and reliability.
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to turn product and design requirements into working code.
  • Contribute to the full feature lifecycle, from concept and prototyping through deployment and post-launch maintenance.
  • Participate in on-call rotations to support critical moderation and safety services.
  • Review code to uphold quality, architectural integrity, performance, and reliability standards.
  • Integrate third-party tools and services to support secure and trustworthy user experiences.

Requirements

  • 2-5+ years of professional experience developing, building, and maintaining web applications.
  • Proficiency with the MERN stack, including MongoDB, Express, React, and Node.js.
  • Experience with related technologies such as Redis.
  • Experience building scalable, RESTful APIs.
  • Experience building responsive web front ends using React and CSS, or similar technologies.
  • Experience with database design and optimization, state management, and third-party integrations.
  • Familiarity with version control systems and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong communication skills and an agile, collaborative mindset for remote, cross-functional work.
  • Experience working independently in a remote team environment.
  • Preferred: understanding of game client/server architecture and data flow, with Unity/C# a plus.
  • Preferred: experience with moderation or Trust and Safety teams.
  • Preferred: familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP and containerization tools such as Docker or Kubernetes.
  • Preferred: demonstrated interest in online communities, VR, or VRChat.
