Description

  • Lead an autonomous team of 8–10 engineers delivering backend payment services.
  • Oversee the full lifecycle of services using AI-augmented development workflows.
  • Partner with Product Management to define the roadmap and prioritize security, performance, and scalability.
  • Hire, coach, and mentor engineers while building a strong engineering culture.
  • Collaborate with the CTO and tech leads on architecture and design decisions.
  • Manage incidents, vulnerabilities, defects, and other unplanned operational work.
  • Work with adjacent engineering, infrastructure, shared services, and security teams to remove dependencies and support production delivery.
  • Promote rigorous testing, automation, and code review practices.
  • Drive continuous improvement in people, process, and technology.
  • Lead in alignment with company leadership principles and act as an owner for team outcomes.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as an Engineering Manager, Technical Lead, Team Lead, or Architect in an enterprise or high-growth SaaS environment.
  • Strong command of Agile, DevOps, and SRE practices adapted for AI-integrated development.
  • Deep experience managing a mesh of Java microservices.
  • Strong understanding of API fundamentals, event-driven architectures, SQS/Kafka, SQL/NoSQL databases, and enterprise data platforms.
  • Experience with container orchestration, preferably Kubernetes.
  • Experience with a modern SaaS toolchain in a public cloud environment, preferably AWS.
  • Experience defining and maintaining SLAs/SLOs and using modern observability tools.
  • Experience operating within regulated compliance frameworks such as SOC2, PCI-DSS, and ISO27001.
  • A management style centered on leading from the front, humility, and empowering team ownership.
  • US-only hiring eligibility for one of the listed states: California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Texas, Virginia, or Washington.
