Description

  • Lead, coach, hire, and develop machine learning and software engineers through performance management and career development.
  • Set technical direction, roadmap, priorities, and delivery plans for active-sensor perception.
  • Own multitask model development for object detection, road and lane detection, and free-space estimation using lidar and radar data.
  • Guide architecture decisions involving sensor fusion, temporal modeling, uncertainty estimation, shared backbones, and task-specific representations.
  • Drive the machine-learning lifecycle from data requirements and experimentation through evaluation, integration, release, and monitoring.
  • Ensure perception systems remain robust across adverse weather, environmental changes, sensor degradation, and sensor failures.
  • Establish datasets, metrics, benchmarks, and failure-analysis practices covering performance, latency, robustness, and downstream impact.
  • Review technical designs, model architectures, experiments, and verification evidence.
  • Collaborate with perception, planning, infrastructure, simulation, hardware, embedded-platform, systems-engineering, and safety teams.
  • Track execution and communicate progress, risks, dependencies, staffing needs, and technical decisions to senior leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with 6+ years of professional experience, or a master’s degree with 4+ years of experience.
  • 2+ years of experience leading and managing engineers, including coaching, performance management, and career development.
  • Strong foundation in machine learning, computer vision, 3D geometry, model evaluation, uncertainty, and perception failure modes.
  • Experience developing and deploying production machine-learning systems for autonomous driving, robotics, or another real-world application.
  • Experience with multitask learning, object detection, road and lane detection, or 3D occupancy estimation.
  • Strong understanding of lidar sensing, including scan patterns, reflectance, FMCW lidar, and sensor time synchronization.
  • Proficiency in Python and PyTorch, with practical production experience in C++.
  • Experience deploying and optimizing deep-learning models with TensorRT on embedded, real-time systems.
  • Experience defining technical roadmaps, managing cross-functional dependencies, and delivering complex projects against milestones.
  • Preferred: PhD, NVIDIA CUDA/cuDNN/cuBLAS/NPP experience, custom TensorRT operations, or publications, patents, and open-source contributions in relevant fields.
