Description

  • Lead the end-to-end competitive intelligence program, including internal and external data sources and vendor relationships.
  • Synthesize surveys, internal comparison data, and third-party reports into a clear view of market pricing.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact to leadership on competitive pricing, including board and earnings call support.
  • Own the roadmap to expand competitive pricing coverage from personal loans into new products such as auto and home.
  • Translate competitive pricing gaps into actionable pricing recommendations for the business.
  • Think critically about how pricing changes interact with risk assessment, underwriting policies, loan funding, and other business systems.
  • Coordinate the interplay between supply, demand, and pricing within Upstart’s marketplace.
  • Work with data to define and monitor Upstart’s price competitiveness across the market.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of professional experience in analytics, data science, or a related quantitative field.
  • Proficiency in SQL and Python or R for data analysis.
  • Experience with BI or visualization tools such as Looker, Tableau, or Mode.
  • Degree in a quantitative field such as Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Data Science, or Operations Research.
  • Experience with survey data.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a structured approach to complex, ambiguous problems.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills for diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to think critically about business problems and the systems they operate within.
  • Preferred: experience in competitive pricing, pricing analytics, revenue management, or marketplace optimization.
  • Preferred: experience in technology, fintech, lending, or two-sided marketplace companies.
  • Preferred: deep understanding of statistical methods and causal inference techniques.
  • Preferred: ability to influence strategic decisions through data-driven narratives, especially at the leadership level.
  • Preferred: experience collaborating with Product Management and Engineering teams.

  • Anticipated base salary range of $15,700 to $217,500 USD, depending on location and experience.
