Description

Lead Android migration and development efforts across the Cash Line and Unsecured Installment product surfaces.
Drive execution against Upstart’s approved Android launch plan and translate business goals into technical milestones.
Set technical direction for mobile architecture across native Android and React Native surfaces.
Partner with product, design, and engineering stakeholders to turn roadmap priorities into mobile solutions.
Provide technical leadership through design reviews, mentorship, and architecture ownership.
Raise engineering quality and help teams execute in ambiguous, high-visibility problem spaces.
Continue supporting both product teams after launch as a mobile specialist across shared mobile surfaces.

Requirements

8+ years of software engineering experience, including substantial experience building and shipping native Android applications in Kotlin and/or Java.
Proven track record leading large, cross-team mobile initiatives, platform migrations, or new mobile product launches in production environments.
Experience shipping consumer-facing mobile products at scale with strong attention to performance, reliability, and user experience.
Native Android depth in Kotlin and/or Java, plus working experience with React Native and TypeScript.
Demonstrated technical leadership as a senior individual contributor, including architecture ownership, mentorship, and cross-team influence.
Experience serving as the mobile or frontend technical lead for a product team or business-critical product surface (preferred).
Breadth across mobile platforms, including familiarity with iOS development, React Native, or cross-platform mobile architecture (preferred).
Background in fintech, lending, or other consumer financial products with complex user journeys and high quality expectations (preferred).
Experience helping teams build conviction around new mobile investments through technical proposals, feasibility work, or proof-of-concept execution (preferred).
Comfort leading through ambiguity in fast-scaling product environments and building alignment across engineering, product, design, and leadership partners (preferred).

Benefits

United States remote base salary range of $195,300 to $270,400 USD.
Canada remote base salary range of $182,800 to $230,000 USD.
Target bonuses, equity compensation, and annual equity grants that vest quarterly.
