Description

  • Manage and mentor a team of machine learning and data engineers, supporting their growth and performance.
  • Partner with product managers and architects to translate customer needs into technical requirements and roadmaps.
  • Oversee end-to-end execution of large-scale machine learning solutions with strong engineering practices and operational excellence.
  • Work with data platform teams to build scalable batch and real-time data pipelines.
  • Collaborate with fraud, compliance, and data analytics teams to identify emerging fraud patterns and respond with effective countermeasures.
  • Partner with product and development teams to embed anti-fraud capabilities into new and existing products.
  • Advocate for agile processes, CI/CD, automated testing, and model monitoring to reduce toil.
  • Establish and maintain on-call incident escalation and response processes, including participation in on-call rotation.
  • Own reliability for team services and manage critical cloud-based risk platform tools.
  • Lead short- and long-term planning, including capacity management, prioritization, and identifying tactical and strategic gaps.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10–14+ years of total experience in machine learning or data engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience leading and managing engineering teams.
  • Proven experience shipping and maintaining machine learning models in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Experience developing highly available full-stack applications and distributed systems.
  • Strong communication, organization, and management skills in an agile environment.
  • Ability to explain technical and business decisions clearly, both succinctly and in detail.
  • Expert proficiency in Python; familiarity with Java or Scala is a plus.
  • Deep experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Keras.
  • Experience with Kafka, Apache Spark, Hadoop, Presto, and DynamoDB.
  • Significant experience with AWS, especially SageMaker, EKS, or ECS.
  • Familiarity with observability tools such as Datadog and Grafana.
  • Experience in the fraud or compliance domain is preferred.
  • Knowledge of telecommunications is preferred.
  • Familiarity with popular LLMs and current developments is preferred.
  • This role is remote but not eligible for hiring in CA, CT, NJ, NY, PA, or WA.
  • Occasional travel may be required for project or team in-person meetings.
