Description

  • Provide high-quality data sets through curation, consolidation, and manipulation of large-scale data sources.
  • Build and maintain data pipelines and ETL processes on platforms such as Snowflake and BigQuery.
  • Develop and improve enterprise data marts with efficient, scalable data models.
  • Partner with analytics, data science, CRM, machine learning, engineering, and business teams on data solutions.
  • Own data mart integrity, validation, documentation, SLA management, and dependency management.
  • Write technical documentation and present solutions in design reviews.
  • Resolve data pipeline failures and implement anomaly detection.
  • Work with product owners and front-end developers on tracking solutions and technical challenges.
  • Lead medium to large projects through technical specifications and project planning.
  • Mentor junior team members and support their development.

Requirements

  • BS or MS degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline.
  • 6+ years of data engineering or general software development experience.
  • Experience working with large datasets at terabyte scale and growing.
  • Experience with big data tools and platforms such as Hadoop, Hive, BigQuery, or Snowflake.
  • Experience with relational databases such as MS SQL, PostgreSQL, or MySQL.
  • Comprehensive data design and data modeling experience.
  • Strong experience building complex ETL processes, including SLA definition, performance measurement, and monitoring.
  • Advanced SQL and data exploration skills with a proven record of complex query writing.
  • Experience with systems performance and optimization, including architecture impact on scalability.
  • Experience in Python or an equivalent functional programming language.
  • Strong software engineering principles and strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and handle challenging deadlines.
  • Proven technical leadership in planning and driving medium to large projects.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, curiosity, problem-solving ability, and ownership mindset.
  • Ability to work autonomously, own the full data vertical, and mentor junior team members.
  • Preferred: exposure to machine learning and data science.
  • Preferred: experience with Airflow or similar task orchestration tools.
  • Preferred: comfortable working in a Linux CLI environment.
  • Preferred: experience designing high-scale, fault-tolerant distributed applications.
  • Preferred: experience developing and managing real-time data pipelines.
  • Preferred: experience with Java or an equivalent language.
  • Preferred: experience with data governance.
