Description

Oversee the complete accounting cycle for multiple companies or client accounts.
Manage month-end and year-end close activities and ensure deadlines and reporting requirements are met.
Review journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, payroll entries, and intercompany transactions.
Review financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow reports, and supporting schedules.
Maintain strong internal controls and identify accounting, reporting, and compliance risks.
Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, tax professionals, and other financial partners.
Analyze financial results, variances, trends, and business risks, and provide clear commentary on performance.
Prepare and review monthly management reporting packages and support budgets, forecasts, cash flow projections, and financial models.
Supervise, guide, and review the work of bookkeepers, accountants, and other finance team members.
Lead client and stakeholder meetings and work with fractional CFOs and senior advisors on strategic initiatives.
Evaluate accounting workflows and help improve processes, documentation, systems, and standard operating procedures.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
At least seven years of progressive accounting experience.
Experience in an Accounting Manager, Financial Controller, Assistant Controller, Senior Accountant, or similar leadership role.
Strong controllership experience covering month-end close, reconciliations, reporting, internal controls, and accounting operations.
Solid knowledge of Canadian and/or U.S. accounting principles and business practices.
Experience working with Canadian or U.S.-based companies, clients, or accounting firms.
Strong understanding of balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and management reporting.
Experience supervising junior accountants or bookkeepers.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.
Experience with cloud-based accounting systems such as QuickBooks Online and Xero.
Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
Ability to work effectively with North American clients and senior business leaders.
CPA, CPA candidate, Chartered Accountant, or equivalent accounting designation preferred.
Experience in public accounting, outsourced accounting, fractional CFO services, or financial advisory preferred.
Experience managing accounting for multiple entities or multiple clients preferred.
Knowledge of both Canadian and U.S. accounting environments preferred.
Experience with financial modeling, cash flow forecasting, budgeting, or deal support preferred.
Familiarity with technology companies, startups, professional services, e-commerce, real estate, healthcare, blockchain, or other growth-stage businesses preferred.
Experience supporting expansion, capital raising, restructuring, acquisitions, or financial-process transformation preferred.
