Description

  • Design, develop, and optimize motion planning algorithms for autonomous trucks.
  • Build trajectory generation, trajectory selection, behavior planning, and optimization-based planning systems.
  • Develop planning solutions using graph search, sampling-based methods, splines, convex optimization, and Frenet-frame approaches.
  • Incorporate vehicle kinematic and dynamic constraints into planning software.
  • Develop production-quality software in modern C++ on Linux.
  • Participate in software architecture discussions and technical design reviews.
  • Create and execute validation strategies in SiL, HiL, and ViL environments.
  • Collaborate with Safety, Controls, Perception, Validation, and Simulation teams.
  • Investigate, debug, and improve vehicle behavior through simulation and system analysis.
  • Support vehicle integration, deployment, and post-deployment investigations.
  • Mentor junior engineers through technical guidance and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field with 5+ years of industry experience, or a Master's degree with 3+ years, or a PhD with 1+ years.
  • Strong proficiency in modern C++ development within Linux-based environments.
  • Experience developing robotics, autonomous vehicle, ADAS, or other complex real-time software systems.
  • Strong experience with motion planning, trajectory generation, trajectory optimization, behavior planning, or decision-making systems.
  • Solid understanding of vehicle dynamics, vehicle kinematics, trajectory feasibility, and planning system architecture.
  • Strong foundation in linear algebra, numerical optimization, geometry, and robotics algorithms.
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals and scalable system design practices.
  • Experience across the full software development lifecycle, including validation, deployment, and operational support.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to debug complex system-level issues.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills in cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work independently in a highly collaborative environment.
  • Experience with MPC, convex optimization, QP, nonlinear optimization, or other optimization-based planning techniques (preferred).
  • Experience with machine learning approaches such as imitation learning, reinforcement learning, or hybrid planning architectures (preferred).
  • Experience in both C++ and Python environments (preferred).
  • Experience with simulation platforms, ROS/ROS2, Autoware, Apollo, CUDA, TensorRT, or GPU acceleration (preferred).
  • Experience supporting on-vehicle testing, debugging, and deployment activities (preferred).
