Description

  • Design, build, and deliver features for Toast’s payments products.
  • Develop and implement automated test suites to ensure high code quality.
  • Roll out features to customers and monitor their success.
  • Collaborate with Product Management and UX on feature definition and design.
  • Partner with teams across Toast to deliver payment solutions.
  • Work with experienced engineers through design and code reviews.
  • Contribute to services that provide core and supporting functionality for the payment processing platform.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience designing and implementing robust backend services.
  • Proven ability to develop scalable and secure APIs that integrate with internal and external systems.
  • Knowledge of API lifecycle management best practices, including versioning, documentation, and deprecation strategies.
  • Experience with microservices architecture and containerization technologies.
  • Proficiency with DynamoDB or PostgreSQL preferred.
  • Proficiency in Kotlin, or Java with willingness to learn Kotlin, preferred.
  • Experience with Kotlin-specific frameworks and libraries preferred.
  • Experience with modern data architectures such as event sourcing, OLAP, ETL/ELT, or streaming data preferred.
  • Experience designing payments APIs preferred.
  • Familiarity with PCI-DSS preferred.

Benefits

  • Base salary range of $159,000-$254,000 USD for Zone A, $138,000-$221,000 USD for Zone B, and $125,000-$200,000 USD for Zone C.
  • Total rewards package includes cash compensation such as overtime and eligible bonus or commissions.
  • Equity is included in the total rewards package.

  • Remote work option in the US, with hybrid options in Boston and New York.
