Description

  • Serve as the CEO’s strategic partner and provide counsel on payments and fintech market dynamics.
  • Translate company strategy into operational plans for checkout optimisation, payments infrastructure, and merchant growth.
  • Lead operational excellence across all departments and ensure alignment with company objectives.
  • Develop and implement processes and systems that support compliance, security, and reliability in a fintech environment.
  • Track KPIs across operational health, payments performance, chargeback rates, merchant satisfaction, and platform uptime.
  • Identify bottlenecks across the merchant lifecycle and implement improvements to workflows and resource utilisation.
  • Lead cost reduction, budgeting, vendor negotiations, and ROI-driven financial management initiatives.
  • Oversee strategic projects such as payment method expansions, compliance programmes, and platform integrations.
  • Partner with product and engineering teams on the product roadmap, especially around checkout, payment flows, and merchant tooling.
  • Build, mentor, and align high-performing teams across operational functions while fostering accountability and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive operational leadership experience, including at least 5 years in a senior executive role in payments or fintech.
  • Proven track record scaling operations in payments, fintech, or payments-adjacent SaaS businesses.
  • Direct experience with payment processors, card networks, acquiring banks, or merchant services providers.
  • Deep understanding of payments ecosystems, including acquiring, processing, chargebacks, fraud, and merchant services.
  • Strong project management experience leading complex, cross-functional, and compliance-sensitive initiatives.
  • Experience with product development in regulated or technically complex environments.
  • Familiarity with PCI-DSS, payments compliance frameworks, and financial services regulatory requirements.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Finance, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Hands-on experience using AI tools day-to-day to improve productivity, decision-making, and operational output.
  • Ability to design and implement AI agents and AI-powered workflow automation using tools such as n8n, Make, or Zapier.
  • Experience managing remote or distributed teams across multiple time zones.
  • Previous experience supporting a CEO or founder in a COO or similar executive capacity within a fintech or payments business.
