Description

  • Complete audits, compile claims, and prepare claims for submission.
  • Work claims through front-end and back-end rejections until payment is received or the account is deemed uncollectable.
  • Perform daily audits of active and inactive clients to verify program, authorization, diagnosis, and revenue elements.
  • Communicate with department and hospital staff to resolve billing, charge capture, insurance, and authorization issues.
  • Address rejected claims by merging, editing, and filing them according to company billing rules.
  • Keep assigned worklists current and compliant with productivity and accuracy expectations.
  • Update EMR and patient accounts as needed and open IT tickets when billing issues arise.
  • Follow up after submission on third-party billing to confirm claims are on file and set to pay.
  • Resolve claim denials through corrective claims, appeals, supporting documentation, and escalation to UR appeal or management.
  • Document claim activity in Avatar, Waystar, and BB Tech Tool Kit, and report denial trends to management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; associate degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in medical business matters in an acute hospital organization, physician practice, behavioral health facility, or medical billing company.
  • Experience with Lean Six Sigma, Kaizen, or other lean process management methods preferred.
  • CPC, CPAT, or CPAM certification preferred.
  • Must use a personal computer that meets company software and virus security standards.
  • Windows 11 with the latest update installed is required; Chromebooks and Apple computers are not compatible.
  • Must have up-to-date antivirus software.
  • Must be able to participate regularly in virtual meetings and video conferences with a stable internet connection, functional webcam, and distraction-free environment.
  • Must present professionally during video interactions, including appropriate work-ready attire.
  • Knowledge of patient confidentiality laws, drug-free workplace policies, workplace violence, and corporate integrity/compliance programs.
