Description

  • Monitor safeguarding self-reviews and action plans across programmes, providing practical guidance and tracking progress.
  • Lead or support safeguarding risk assessments and monitor implementation of mitigation measures.
  • Assess and strengthen safeguarding capacity among implementing partners, contractors, and external stakeholders.
  • Design, develop, and deliver safeguarding training, communications, and awareness initiatives.
  • Develop accessible, trusted, and survivor-centred community reporting and complaints mechanisms.
  • Support confidential, timely, and survivor-centred safeguarding case management and investigations.
  • Coordinate safeguarding cases with HR, legal, security, programme, recruitment, and other relevant teams.
  • Facilitate the safeguarding Community of Practice and promote organisational learning and best practice.
  • Contribute to safeguarding systems, policies, statutory and donor reporting, and regulatory monitoring.
  • Provide policy guidance to field managers and safeguarding focal points, including through occasional international travel.

Requirements

  • Demonstrable safeguarding experience within an INGO.
  • Experience supporting or leading safeguarding investigations.
  • CHS Alliance Investigator Qualification Training Scheme Level 2 or equivalent; Level 3 is desirable.
  • Experience designing or delivering training and capacity-building activities.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of international safeguarding standards and awareness of cultural differences across programme settings.
  • Ability to work effectively in complex, fast-paced, and evolving environments with resilience and adaptability.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and influence stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, decision-making, and evidence-based assessment skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information professionally, discreetly, and confidentially.
  • Experience implementing safeguarding systems or frameworks, GBV prevention or protection programming, and international development or humanitarian operations is desirable; additional language skills are an advantage.

  • £45,000–£50,000 annual salary, dependent on experience.
