Description

  • Own platform architecture and technical direction across enterprise platform, scientific search, AI/ML ops, developer platform, lakehouse, partner integrations, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Define and evolve enterprise tenancy, identity, access control, compliance, admin controls, and tenant onboarding for a multi-tenant SaaS environment.
  • Architect search systems across keyword, semantic, and hybrid retrieval, including indexing pipelines and relevance standards.
  • Design AI/ML infrastructure for model serving, agentic primitives, embedding services, and production MLOps standards.
  • Build and improve internal developer platform capabilities, including CI/CD standards, SDK principles, golden paths, and adoption metrics.
  • Improve developer productivity by reducing friction from commit to deployment and increasing local and production environment parity.
  • Own lakehouse platform architecture, including schema evolution, IDS design standards, and data access layers for downstream AI and pipeline workloads.
  • Define integration architecture and reference patterns for lab instrument vendors and AI model partners, including security boundaries and self-service onboarding.
  • Lead cloud infrastructure architecture, cost governance, observability, and service health monitoring.
  • Close cross-team architectural gaps before they become business risks and document decisions that span multiple teams.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 5 years at the staff or principal level in a SaaS platform or data infrastructure context.
  • Deep architecture ownership in at least one of the two core profiles: enterprise data and AI platforms, or data, knowledge, and developer products.
  • Meaningful range across the broader architecture scope, with coverage of a majority of the eight domains being the expected bar.
  • Demonstrated ownership of enterprise authentication and authorization at scale, including SAML, OIDC, fine-grained RBAC, and multi-tenant SaaS.
  • Hands-on experience building and operating AI/ML model serving infrastructure under production load.
  • Experience designing and operating search platforms for keyword, semantic, or hybrid retrieval over large structured or semi-structured datasets.
  • Hands-on experience with data lake architectures at scale, including Delta Lake or Apache Iceberg, schema evolution, partition pruning, and cost-performance trade-offs.
  • Infrastructure fluency on AWS with Kubernetes or ECS, including the ability to diagnose cost anomalies and drive corrective action.
  • Ability to write and defend architecture decisions through RFCs, trade-off documents, and design reviews.
  • Strong cross-team communication skills and comfort operating across strategy, architecture, and operations in the same week.
  • Experience in regulated industries such as biopharma, medtech, or financial services, where compliance and data residency are core constraints.
  • Familiarity with scientific data platforms, ELN/LIMS systems, laboratory informatics ecosystems, or instrument-data constraints.
  • Experience designing and operating internal developer platforms as a product, including roadmap ownership, adoption metrics, and deprecation strategy.
  • Experience building partner integration programs at the architecture level, including connector SDKs, reference implementations, and certification criteria.
  • Exposure to lab instrument ecosystems or analogous hardware-adjacent integration work in medtech or industrial IoT.
  • Prior experience as a founding or early platform architect at a Series B-D SaaS company scaling to enterprise.
