Description

  • Lead and provide technical mentorship and direction to a small team of software engineers.
  • Conduct pull request reviews to ensure security, stability, performance, and readability.
  • Manage the development process, including scoping and defining work in ambiguous situations.
  • Write efficient, scalable, reusable code and contribute directly to feature development.
  • Design and develop components and features with performance and scalability in mind.
  • Build APIs and web applications that handle complex data efficiently.
  • Unit test code and take ownership of the quality of both your own work and your team’s work.
  • Decompose monolithic applications into modern microservices and provide input on architecture, databases, and APIs.
  • Collaborate with product managers, senior leadership, and QA to define, plan, and deliver features.
  • Test, evaluate, and recommend technologies to improve overall solutions, and produce excellent documentation.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of professional development experience.
  • 2+ years of experience successfully providing technical direction to engineers.
  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals and software architecture.
  • Substantial experience with React.js, JavaScript, and HTML/CSS.
  • Substantial experience with web development in at least one of Java, C#, or Python.
  • Substantial experience with SQL; NoSQL experience is a plus.
  • Experience with Node.js, especially in microservices, is highly preferred.
  • Experience with containerized application deployments, especially Docker, is highly preferred.
  • Experience with large-scale data systems is highly preferred.
  • Experience with message queueing architectures, especially RabbitMQ, is preferred.
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services, especially EC2, S3, VPC, Elasticsearch, and Kinesis.
  • IoT experience is a huge plus.
  • Ability to create designs and build an application from requirements and discuss them with product and engineering stakeholders.
  • Experience executing products, features, or enhancements through the full development lifecycle.
  • Experience supporting production products.
