Description

  • Develop, enhance, test, and maintain clean, efficient, and secure application code.
  • Support software modernization efforts by implementing new capabilities, application enhancements, and system improvements.
  • Develop Java-based web applications and services in an Agile software development environment.
  • Participate in peer code reviews to support software quality, security, maintainability, and coding standards.
  • Implement user experience enhancements and support low-code/no-code solutions as directed by technical leadership.
  • Develop and maintain automated tests, including support for at least 90% automated test coverage for new code.
  • Identify technical debt and support remediation efforts.
  • Ensure applications meet WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards through automated and manual testing.
  • Maintain source code in the Government-owned/BES-managed Git repository using branching and version control best practices.
  • Support software quality and security processes, including automated scanning, vulnerability remediation, and compliance activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience, in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Java and web application development.
  • Experience developing software using modern programming practices and secure coding standards.
  • Proficiency with Git-based version control workflows.
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks and software quality practices.
  • Familiarity with DoD cybersecurity requirements, security scanning tools, and STIG requirements.
  • Ability to work effectively in an Agile software development environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional technical teams.
  • Active Secret Security Clearance.
  • Experience with modern front-end frameworks such as Angular, React, or similar technologies (preferred).
  • Experience applying UX design principles to web-based applications (preferred).
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps practices and CI/CD pipelines (preferred).
  • Experience supporting DoD software modernization programs (preferred).
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards, including WCAG 2.1 AA compliance (preferred).
  • Experience working with cloud-based development environments (preferred).
  • Familiarity with Agile tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar platforms (preferred).
