Description

  • Own infrastructure topology, scaling boundaries, build/deploy graphs, database ownership boundaries, and cost ceilings.
  • Build validation gates, idempotency checks, drift detectors, and runbooks that safely constrain both humans and AI agents.
  • Diagnose novel platform failures involving consumer lag, DLQs, materialized-view chains, and consent ordering.
  • Own reliability, capacity, and cost planning for a 500K+ events/sec target, including load testing, cluster autoscaling, database sizing, SLOs, and alerting.
  • Own IAM, IRSA, secret rotation, authentication chains, and the permissions exposed through the agent/MCP surface.
  • Keep agent skills, runbooks, and context aligned with real system behavior.
  • Lead incidents and turn each fix into a new runbook plus regression test.

Requirements

  • 5+ years operating production Kubernetes and AWS cloud infrastructure at scale.
  • Strong experience with Terraform and GitOps/Kustomize.
  • Experience with incident response for distributed-systems failures, including databases, streaming, consumer lag, and data integrity.
  • Understanding of how Postgres, a columnar store, and a log/streaming bus behave under load.
  • Comfort working alongside AI agents and building guardrails, runbooks, and checks for safe automation.
  • Bias toward encoding operations as checks, eliminating manual steps, and treating incorrect runbooks as production bugs.
  • Experience with production infrastructure for high-scale systems (preferred).
