Description

  • Own the WordPress backend, including custom post types, taxonomies, custom fields, template logic, and custom plugin/theme functionality in PHP.
  • Maintain a disciplined plugin strategy and manage upgrades for PHP, WordPress core, themes, plugins, and Elementor.
  • Maintain local, staging, and production environments with version control and a repeatable deployment process.
  • Own site reliability and infrastructure, including uptime monitoring, performance optimization, hosting, DNS, SSL, backups, and disaster recovery.
  • Own website security, including hardening, vulnerability management, patching, access controls, and incident response.
  • Maintain privacy and accessibility compliance, including GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, consent mode, and WCAG 2.2 AA remediation support.
  • Own technical SEO execution, site health monitoring, and diagnostics across crawlability, schema, Search Console, and SEMrush.
  • Own the tracking layer across GA4, Google Tag Manager, HubSpot tracking, and server-side tagging.
  • Build and maintain integrations between WordPress, HubSpot, and other marketing systems using APIs and webhooks.
  • Document architecture, processes, credentials management, and runbooks, and establish QA standards and pre-release checklists.
  • Partner with the Front-End Designer & Developer and marketing stakeholders on technical scoping, estimates, risks, and tradeoffs.
  • Use approved AI tools to speed up debugging, code review, log triage, testing, and documentation, with human review before production.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional back-end web development, including substantial WordPress experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, web development, or a related field, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
  • Strong PHP and MySQL skills, with fluency in WordPress APIs, WP-CLI, and custom plugin code.
  • Working JavaScript ability to debug front-end and back-end interactions.
  • Experience working in a version-controlled staging-to-production workflow with rollback capability.
  • Experience with Elementor at a technical level, including performance and markup implications.
  • Hands-on SEMrush experience for site health monitoring, remediation, backlink auditing, and issue triage.
  • Demonstrated ownership of website security, backups, vulnerability management, and incident response.
  • Experience with managed WordPress hosting, CDNs, caching layers, and DNS management.
  • Technical SEO fluency, including Google Search Console, crawl diagnostics, schema markup, redirects, and migrations.
  • Hands-on GA4 and Google Tag Manager implementation, plus understanding of consent management and web privacy requirements.
  • API integration experience, ideally with HubSpot or a similar marketing automation platform.
  • Familiarity with WCAG 2.2 AA and supporting compliance work.
  • Fluency with AI-assisted development tools and sound judgment in reviewing and securing generated code.
  • Clear written communication and strong documentation habits.
  • Experience supporting a B2B SaaS marketing site and demand generation team is a plus.
  • Exposure to marketing operations or revenue operations is a plus.
