Description

  • Design intuitive, accessible internal tools used by Hippo teams every day.
  • Partner with product managers and engineers from discovery through feature delivery.
  • Define problems, explore solutions, and ship work that improves operational metrics such as handle time, error rates, and throughput.
  • Run user interviews, shadow sessions, and lightweight feedback loops with actual tool users.
  • Sketch, wireframe, and prototype at the right fidelity for each design question.
  • Facilitate alignment between product, design, and engineering on messy or ambiguous problems.
  • Share work openly, including process, early ideas, and learnings from mistakes.
  • Participate in weekly design critiques and use feedback to improve solutions.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience shipping production design work.
  • A portfolio demonstrating your process, data, and impact; portfolio is required.
  • Strong Figma skills, including components, variables, auto-layout, and prototyping.
  • Experience designing data-dense, workflow-heavy interfaces such as tables, filters, dashboards, and multi-step flows.
  • Comfort using LLMs as part of the design toolkit for research synthesis, ideation, prototyping, and writing.
  • Ability to work independently on projects with support from a Staff Designer when needed.
  • Fluent English and availability in the afternoons 2-3 days per week, with occasional evening calls for US time zones.
  • A clear design process and the ability to defend ideas while giving and receiving feedback constructively.
  • Preferred experience with internal tools or ops-heavy products such as admin panels, agent consoles, claims tools, or CRMs.
  • Preferred experience designing AI-powered features, including chatbots, agent assistance, or LLM-in-the-loop workflows.
  • Preferred context on US home insurance, claims, or insurance operations, or strong curiosity to learn.
  • Preferred experience working with US stakeholders and managing time-zone differences.
