Description

  • Own end-to-end Android features from problem framing through design, implementation, rollout, and monitoring.
  • Set and enforce mobile quality targets (e.g., crash-free >99.9%, improve cold-start p95 quarter over quarter, accessibility and security compliance).
  • Lead mobile architecture and standards, including modularization, design system components, networking, and telemetry.
  • Ship safely using feature flags, staged rollouts, server-driven configuration, kill switches, and clear rollback plans.
  • Instrument, monitor, and alert on critical journeys and metrics (errors, latency, jank, memory/battery, app size).
  • Drive cross-platform parity by defining shared foundations with iOS and Web and closing experience gaps.
  • Accelerate team delivery via design and code reviews, mentoring senior engineers, improving CI/build times, and writing clear documentation.
  • Partner closely with Product, Design, and Data to prototype, run experiments, and make data-driven decisions.

Requirements

  • 6+ years building large-scale Android apps with a track record of shipping high-impact user features.
  • Expert in Kotlin with strong Gradle expertise and solid Java interoperability.
  • Strong experience with Jetpack Compose and XML/ViewBinding, and Android performance tools (Android Profiler).
  • Proficient with concurrency patterns on Android including Coroutines and Flow.
  • Depth in networking and offline: REST/Retrofit and caching/offline storage (Room).
  • Experience with secure storage and privacy best practices (EncryptedSharedPreferences, Keystore) and accessibility.
  • Proven release and quality engineering skills: JUnit, Espresso, snapshot testing, CI/CD (Bitrise), staged rollouts, feature flags, and reliable rollback strategies.
  • Demonstrated organization-level influence: designing multi-team solutions, driving standards adoption, and mentoring other engineers.
  • Strong written and spoken communication, effective cross-functional partnering with Product/Design/Backend, and data-driven decision making.
  • C1-level English; preferred: Master's or PhD in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent, and experience in cross-platform development.
