Description

  • Manage engineer performance, growth, feedback, and career development on your team.
  • Build and maintain a collaborative team culture centered on ownership, excellence, and growth.
  • Lead technical decisions and guide feature development with attention to scalability, maintainability, and cost efficiency.
  • Partner with Senior and Staff Engineers to identify and implement technical improvements.
  • Oversee team infrastructure, uptime, reliability, performance, testing, deployment, and developer experience.
  • Own delivery of team projects with clear goals, accountability, and reliable execution.
  • Partner with Product and Design to scope, prioritize, and plan initiatives across the product lifecycle.
  • Translate technical trade-offs into clear decisions for Product, Design, stakeholders, and leadership.
  • Identify bottlenecks, improve workflows, and drive initiatives that increase team velocity and product quality.
  • Pilot and roll out AI-assisted development practices across the software lifecycle with appropriate guardrails.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of experience leading and managing engineers.
  • Fluent near-native English for spoken and written communication.
  • Proven ability to lead teams and deliver complex technical projects from planning through execution.
  • Track record of building high-performance teams.
  • Proficiency in one or more core technologies: Ruby on Rails, React, or Flutter.
  • Strong understanding of system design, scalability, and modern development practices.
  • Professional experience with relational databases.
  • Experience balancing product impact with technical excellence and maintainability.
  • Excellent communication and people management skills, with the ability to coach and inspire.
  • Comfort using AI tools across the development lifecycle to improve speed and quality.
  • Hands-on experience shipping AI-powered product features is preferred.
  • Breadth across web and mobile development, such as React and Flutter, is preferred.
  • Experience influencing engineering standards or mentoring other leads/managers at a company-wide level is preferred.
  • Experience leading remote, distributed teams across North and South America is preferred.
