Description

  • Establish and evolve strategies and processes to meet security, privacy, and compliance objectives.
  • Guide leadership and teams in prioritizing compliance, privacy, and security work based on risk and reward.
  • Maintain program backlogs and roadmaps and keep initiatives on track by removing blockers.
  • Define OKRs, metrics, and stakeholder communications for the application security program.
  • Coordinate application security initiatives such as threat modeling and dependency vulnerability mitigation across product and engineering teams.
  • Help product teams develop secure applications for the Sumo Logic platform.
  • Integrate and implement solutions that improve the company’s security posture.
  • Lead security reviews and penetration tests during design and implementation phases.
  • Partner with the Security Operations Center and Compliance teams on vulnerability management, threat modeling, and overall security posture.
  • Drive the reliability program to maintain high uptime, manage error budgets, and reduce engineer operational workload through automation and infrastructure improvements.
  • Promote a blameless post-mortem culture with developer accountability.
  • Lead and grow a global SRE team focused on fault-tolerant, efficient, and scalable backend systems.
  • Partner with technical leadership to review architecture choices and improve backend scalability, efficiency, and reliability.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Computer Science or a related discipline; M.S. or Ph.D. is a plus.
  • 8+ years of industry experience with a proven track record of ownership, delivery, and operational excellence.
  • 3+ years of experience in a management role.
  • Experience owning key SLOs for a cloud-based SaaS, including availability, uptime, performance, and security.
  • Experience with multi-threaded programming and distributed systems.
  • Object-oriented programming experience in Java, Scala, Ruby, C++, or similar languages.
  • Experience handling high volumes of data with technologies such as Kafka, Kubernetes, and Docker.
  • Agile software development experience, including test-driven development and iterative, incremental development.
  • Hands-on experience with public cloud IaaS and PaaS offerings such as Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud Platform.
  • Experience in big data or 24x7 commercial services is highly desirable.
  • Functional knowledge of global information security and privacy regulations, industry standards, and best practices such as GDPR, CCPA, FISMA, ISO/IEC 27001, PCI DSS, SOC2, OWASP, and threat modeling methodologies.
  • Experience with cloud technology environments and contemporary software engineering stacks.
  • Ability to influence across all levels of an organization with strong written, verbal, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated success in cross-functional collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Professional certifications such as CIPM, CISM, or CISSP are preferred.
