Description

  • Define and own the quality engineering strategy and roadmap across the company’s products.
  • Build and lead a dedicated QA automation function from the ground up.
  • Personally write automated tests, build framework components, and review code as a hands-on player-coach.
  • Select test automation tooling and frameworks and establish standards for engineering squads.
  • Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and partner with DevOps on stable deployments.
  • Define quality gates for merges and releases in alignment with engineering leadership and risk.
  • Drive a risk-based testing approach that prioritizes the highest-value client protections.
  • Reduce flaky tests, push testing lower in the stack, and enable squads to own the practice.
  • Hire, coach, and grow a team of automation engineers while raising testing discipline across squads.
  • Own quality metrics and dashboards used by leadership for release decisions.
  • Evaluate and adopt AI-assisted testing tools while maintaining a human-in-the-loop review standard.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in software quality or engineering, including 3+ years leading and growing engineers.
  • Proven experience building or significantly maturing a test automation practice.
  • Current hands-on coding ability to build framework components and write automated tests.
  • Strong technical judgment on automation frameworks, CI/CD, and test architecture with recent hands-on experience.
  • Fluency with modern automation tools such as Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or GitLab CI.
  • Experience defining quality metrics and using them to influence release decisions.
  • Clear communication skills with the ability to translate quality risk for leadership and product teams.
  • Hands-on understanding of how AI is changing testing, with experience evaluating or adopting AI-assisted QA tooling or a credible plan to do so.
  • Familiarity with testing AI or LLM features, including evaluation harnesses, golden datasets, guardrails, bias checks, and accuracy checks.
  • Familiarity with Claude and Claude Code is preferred.
  • Background as an SDET or automation engineer earlier in your career is preferred.
  • Experience introducing quality practices into an organization that previously did not have them is preferred.
  • Experience in a regulated or high-reliability domain such as utilities, fintech, or healthcare is preferred.
  • Candidates will complete a technical assignment, final interviews, references, background check, and identity verification as part of the process.
