Description

  • Serve as the designated U.S. Privacy and Global Data Protection Officer and provide strategic leadership for the privacy and data protection program.
  • Lead and mentor the privacy legal team, including attorneys and a privacy paraprofessional.
  • Develop legal strategies that balance healthcare privacy, AI use, and business innovation while managing risk.
  • Build and scale a privacy framework for international expansion while maintaining compliance with GDPR, HIPAA, and local laws.
  • Advise executives on privacy implications of emerging technologies, including the ethical and regulatory use of AI in clinical settings.
  • Oversee enterprise privacy risk assessments and embed Privacy by Design into the product development lifecycle.
  • Direct the company’s response to data incidents and breaches, including regulatory notifications and relationship management.
  • Support Sales and Customer Success in complex contract negotiations with enterprise clients.
  • Define, maintain, and update internal and external privacy policies and customer-facing trust materials.
  • Partner with the People Team to ensure employee data practices meet the same privacy standards as member data.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited law school and active membership in at least one state bar.
  • 12+ years of legal experience, including at least 8 years focused on data privacy, security, and healthcare law.
  • Experience leading and scaling privacy teams in a high-growth, global technology environment.
  • Deep expertise in HIPAA/HITECH, GDPR, and CCPA/CPRA, with working knowledge of frameworks such as LGPD or PIPEDA.
  • Professional privacy certifications such as CIPP/US, CIPP/E, CIPM, or CIPT.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to turn complex legal requirements into practical business guidance.
  • Experience handling privacy issues related to AI and machine learning in a regulated industry.
  • Preference for candidates in the NYC area, with periodic travel to Spring Health’s NYC headquarters.
  • Mission-driven mindset with a commitment to ethical and secure data practices.

  • Target base salary of $236,250-$290,000.
