Description

  • Negotiate and draft client, vendor, and partner contracts with TPAs, PBMs, wellness vendors, carriers, and other healthcare providers.
  • Advise on the design, implementation, and administration of medical, dental, vision, EAP, wellness, and FSA plans.
  • Ensure compliance with ERISA, HIPAA, ACA, COBRA, state insurance laws, and related regulations.
  • Draft and maintain plan documents, SPDs, and participant communications.
  • Resolve benefits disputes, claims, and appeals, including managing outside counsel when needed.
  • Monitor regulatory developments and update policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Support audits, Department of Labor investigations, and benefits or contract inquiries.
  • Train stakeholders on fiduciary duties, plan administration, and contract compliance.
  • Support special projects and other legal initiatives.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in a U.S. state.
  • 5–10 years of legal experience, including health and welfare benefits, ERISA fiduciary matters, and vendor contract negotiation.
  • In-house employee benefits and health plan experience preferred.
  • Benefits litigation experience preferred.
  • Deep knowledge of ERISA, HIPAA, ACA, COBRA, IRS regulations, and group health plan laws.
  • Strong understanding of ERISA fiduciary responsibilities.
  • Experience negotiating and managing contracts with performance metrics and compliance obligations.
  • Excellent legal drafting, communication, negotiation, and complex issue-analysis skills.
  • Business-focused approach and ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Teams, and Zoom.
  • Ironclad contract management experience preferred.
  • Permanent U.S. work authorization without sponsorship required.
