Description

  • Design, build, evaluate, integrate, ship, and refine reward signals for recommendation systems through hands-on machine learning development.
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration across the Personalization organization to integrate and A/B test mid-term signals in recommendation systems.
  • Support the development of emerging search and agentic experiences by exploring, defining, building, validating, and optimizing new ideas.
  • Promote best practices for machine learning systems development, testing, and evaluation across the team and broader organization.
  • Work on recommendation systems that power experiences such as Home, Search, and personalized playlists.
  • Contribute to disciplined experimentation and data-driven product iteration.
  • Help validate and optimize new content types and user interaction patterns for search and recommendations.

Requirements

  • Background in machine learning with experience applying theory to real-world applications.
  • Experience with statistics and optimization, especially in sequential models, transformers, generative AI, large language models, and relevant fine-tuning processes.
  • Hands-on experience with large cross-collaborative machine learning projects and stakeholder management.
  • Hands-on experience implementing production machine learning systems at scale in Java, Scala, Python, or similar languages.
  • Experience with large-scale distributed data processing frameworks/tools such as Apache Beam, Apache Spark, or Scio.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as GCP or AWS.
  • Interest in agile software processes, data-driven development, reliability, and disciplined experimentation.
  • Experience in recommendation systems or search-related ML work is implied by the role context and is a strong fit for the team.
  • North America work location required, with collaboration operating in the Eastern Standard Time zone.
