Description

  • Create landscapes using UE5 sculpting, painting, foliage, spline tools, and external DCC tools such as Gaea or World Machine.
  • Design and implement biomes, including rocks, decals, roads, embankments, and other natural elements.
  • Build and manage landscape materials within the Unreal Engine shader system.
  • Develop high-quality materials in Quixel Mixer or Substance Designer.
  • Use procedural tools such as PCG or Houdini to place grass, trees, rocks, and other natural assets efficiently.
  • Ensure landscapes are performance-friendly, visually compelling, and consistent with art direction.
  • Collaborate with design, lighting, and technical teams to maintain quality and consistency.
  • Obtain Lead Artist guidance and approval as needed to advance tasks.
  • Mentor Junior 3D Artists and share best practices with the team.
  • Continue refining artistic skills and learning new software packages or in-house tools.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of Unreal Engine 5 and Perforce.
  • Knowledge of 3D software such as Blender, Maya, or 3ds Max.
  • Knowledge of terrain generation software such as Gaea or World Machine.
  • Understanding of the Unreal Engine Landscape system and Material Graph.
  • Experience creating biome assets such as embankments, road modules, rocks, landscape patches, decals, and small set dressing assets.
  • Material creation experience in Quixel Mixer and Substance Designer is a strong plus.
  • Knowledge of the Houdini plugin for Unreal Engine is a big plus.
  • Ability to work with lead artists and take guidance/approval when required.
  • Willingness to learn new software packages and in-house tools.
