Description

  • Own major Android features from product decisions through release in collaboration with Design.
  • Write production code, review pull requests, and provide actionable technical feedback.
  • Maintain and improve reliability metrics for key features.
  • Unblock engineers and standardize successful solutions across the team.
  • Maintain shared components through testing, documentation, and consolidation.
  • Reduce manual release work and expand automated verification and testing.
  • Handle critical issues, feature releases, and nightly builds for QA.
  • Run planning and determine appropriate review and approval processes.
  • Collaborate with Product, Design, and Engineering while communicating team constraints early.
  • Mentor early-career engineers and support their development.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience, including team leadership or ownership of a major product area while remaining hands-on.
  • Strong experience with Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, background services, music player services, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit.
  • Experience shipping and maintaining background audio or other long-running background work.
  • Understanding of effective testing strategies and test coverage limitations.
  • Demonstrated ability to introduce engineering practices that persist after implementation.
  • Experience influencing teams to change how they work and managing the resulting friction.
  • Ability to determine appropriate review depth based on system risk and impact.
  • Track record of building reusable solutions adopted by the broader team.
  • Ability to describe how a team works with AI agents.
  • Strong product design intuition, user empathy, communication skills, and initiative to improve Android UI/UX and code quality.
  • Experience with open-source Android projects, iOS, Web, or Node.js preferred.
  • Portfolio and LinkedIn links requested; interview includes technical interviews and a real-codebase assessment.
