Description

  • Own major Android features end to end, from product decisions through release, in collaboration with Design.
  • Write production code, review pull requests, and provide actionable technical feedback.
  • Maintain and improve reliability metrics for key features.
  • Unblock engineers, consolidate duplicate solutions, and maintain shared components.
  • Improve release processes by reducing manual intervention and expanding automated verification.
  • Lead planning, review standards, process improvements, and cross-functional discussions.
  • Handle critical issues, own feature releases, and provide nightly builds for QA.
  • Mentor early-career engineers through appropriately challenging work and learning opportunities.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience, including team leadership or ownership of a major product surface while remaining hands-on.
  • Strong experience with Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, background services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit.
  • Experience shipping and maintaining background audio or other long-running background work.
  • Understanding of effective testing strategies and test limitations.
  • Track record of introducing team practices or systems that continued to be used after implementation.
  • Ability to influence changes in team processes and handle resulting friction.
  • Experience building tools or systems adopted by the broader engineering team.
  • Ability to explain how a team works with AI agents.
  • Product design intuition, user empathy, and interest in improving Android UI/UX beyond specifications.
  • Strong self-direction, communication skills, and commitment to improving the app and codebase.
  • Open-source Android experience preferred.
  • Experience with iOS, Web, or NodeJS preferred.
