Description

  • Own major Android features end to end, from product decisions and design collaboration through release.
  • Write production code, review pull requests, and maintain ownership of individual features.
  • Own and improve reliability metrics for key features and handle critical issues.
  • Unblock engineers, consolidate duplicated solutions, and maintain shared components.
  • Improve release processes by reducing manual intervention and expanding automated verification.
  • Lead planning, define review requirements, and drive changes to team processes.
  • Partner with Product, Design, and Engineering to communicate technical constraints early.
  • Provide nightly builds for QA and own feature releases.
  • Mentor early-career engineers through meaningful work and learning opportunities.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience, including team leadership or ownership of a major product area while remaining hands-on.
  • Strong experience with Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, background services, music player services, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit.
  • Experience shipping and maintaining background audio or other long-running background work.
  • Strong understanding of software testing, including test strategy and testing limitations.
  • Experience introducing team practices or technical solutions that continued to be used after implementation.
  • Ability to influence teams through process changes and manage the resulting friction.
  • Ability to determine appropriate review levels based on system risk and behavior.
  • Track record of building reusable solutions adopted by the broader team.
  • Ability to explain how a team uses AI agents in its development workflow.
  • Product design intuition, user empathy, strong communication, and initiative beyond defined specifications.
  • Experience with open-source Android projects, iOS, Web, or NodeJS is preferred.
