Description

  • Own major Android features end to end, from product decisions and design collaboration through release.
  • Write production code, review pull requests, and provide actionable technical feedback.
  • Maintain and improve reliability metrics for key features.
  • Unblock engineers and consolidate successful solutions into shared team practices.
  • Improve testing, verification, release automation, and nightly builds for QA.
  • Lead planning and determine appropriate review and approval processes.
  • Handle critical issues and own feature releases.
  • Collaborate with Product, Design, and Engineering while communicating team constraints early.
  • Mentor early-career engineers through meaningful work and learning opportunities.
  • Drive process improvements and address recurring technical problems at their source.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience, including team leadership or ownership of a major product area while remaining hands-on.
  • Strong experience with Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, background services, music player services, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit.
  • Experience shipping and maintaining background audio or other long-running background functionality.
  • Strong understanding of software testing, including appropriate test coverage and its limitations.
  • Demonstrated ability to introduce practices that teams adopt and sustain.
  • Experience building shared solutions used by the broader engineering team.
  • Ability to evaluate review requirements based on system risk and impact.
  • Experience working with AI agents at the team level.
  • Product design intuition, user empathy, and interest in advancing Android UI/UX beyond specifications.
  • Excellent communication skills and willingness to lead through organizational change.
  • Self-directed approach to improving products and codebases.
  • Open-source Android experience preferred.
  • Experience with iOS, Web, or Node.js preferred.
