Description

  • Own major Android features from product decisions through release in collaboration with Design.
  • Write production code, review pull requests, and provide actionable technical feedback.
  • Maintain and improve reliability metrics for key features.
  • Unblock engineers and consolidate effective solutions into shared team practices.
  • Improve testing, automation, release processes, and nightly builds for QA.
  • Handle critical issues and own feature releases.
  • Lead planning and establish appropriate review and sign-off processes.
  • Collaborate with Product, Design, and Engineering to communicate technical constraints early.
  • Mentor early-career engineers and provide meaningful learning opportunities.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience, including team leadership or ownership of a major product surface while remaining hands-on.
  • Strong experience with Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, background services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit.
  • Experience shipping and maintaining background audio or other long-running background work.
  • Strong understanding of testing strategy and testable versus non-testable behavior.
  • Experience introducing processes or technical improvements that teams continued using independently.
  • Ability to lead changes to team practices and manage related friction.
  • Experience building reusable solutions adopted by the broader engineering team.
  • Ability to explain how teams work with AI agents.
  • Product design intuition, user empathy, and initiative to improve Android UI/UX beyond specifications.
  • Excellent communication skills and strong self-direction.
  • Open-source Android experience preferred.
  • Experience with iOS, Web, or Node.js preferred.
