Description

  • Own major Android features from product decisions through release in collaboration with Design.
  • Write production code, review pull requests, and provide actionable technical feedback.
  • Maintain and improve reliability metrics for key features.
  • Unblock engineers and consolidate effective solutions into shared team standards.
  • Improve testing, verification, release automation, and nightly builds for QA.
  • Handle critical issues and own feature releases.
  • Lead planning and determine appropriate review and approval processes.
  • Collaborate with Product, Design, and Engineering to communicate team constraints early.
  • Mentor early-career engineers and create opportunities for their development.
  • Drive process improvements and address recurring technical and operational problems.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience, including team leadership or ownership of a major product area while remaining hands-on.
  • Strong experience with Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, background services, music player services, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit.
  • Experience shipping and maintaining background audio or other long-running background functionality.
  • Understanding of effective testing strategies and test coverage limitations.
  • Track record of introducing team practices or systems that continued to be used after implementation.
  • Experience building reusable solutions adopted by the broader engineering team.
  • Ability to assess appropriate review depth based on system risk.
  • Strong communication skills and comfort leading changes that may create team friction.
  • Ability to describe how a team uses AI agents in its development workflow.
  • Product design intuition, user empathy, and initiative to improve Android UI/UX beyond specifications.
  • Experience with Room, Custom Views, Canvas and Paint, or Jetpack Compose.
  • Open-source Android experience, or experience with iOS, web, or Node.js is preferred.
  • Willingness to complete technical interviews and a real-codebase assessment; links to a portfolio and LinkedIn are requested.
