Description

  • Design and build Python API endpoints across the full workflow, including matter creation, document ingestion, knowledge extraction, draft generation, review chains, and export.
  • Build and maintain AWS Step Functions workflows for document fingerprinting, audio transcription, research orchestration, and Chambers generation.
  • Handle retries and failure states in async workflows to keep background jobs from blocking the editorial process.
  • Develop and maintain the Aurora PostgreSQL knowledge base, including schema-per-tenant isolation, JSONB-based matter data, migrations, and query optimization.
  • Orchestrate AI agents running on Amazon Bedrock and ensure context passing, activity logging, and pre-flight review gate enforcement.
  • Implement queueing, events, and notification flows using Celery or equivalent plus SQS/SNS.
  • Maintain traceable security and audit logging across the platform using KMS, Secrets Manager, CloudTrail, and custom audit logs.
  • Make architecture and design decisions that support the platform as it scales.

Requirements

  • Production experience developing Python backends.
  • Strong PostgreSQL experience, including schema design, JSONB, migrations, multi-tenant patterns, and query optimization.
  • Experience with AWS services such as ECS Fargate, Step Functions, S3, and SQS/SNS, or equivalent async architecture.
  • Experience with job queues such as Celery, BullMQ, or similar tools.
  • Strong REST API experience, including versioning, error handling, and OpenAPI.
  • Ability to ask clarifying questions before writing code and push back when requirements do not make sense.
  • Experience with LLM or AI agent integration using Amazon Bedrock, OpenAI, or Anthropic API is a plus.
  • Infrastructure-as-code experience with Terraform or Pulumi is a plus.
  • Experience working in regulated environments such as legal, finance, or healthcare is a plus.
