Description

  • Develop highly reliable autonomous software systems and the simulations needed to validate them.
  • Own all aspects of software development, including design, testing, and integration.
  • Work with counterpart engineering teams to develop and maintain launch and vehicle software across the required software domains.
  • Implement and verify control of the pad, ship, and booster to support mission objectives.
  • Define and lead impactful projects that advance the Starship mission.
  • Continuously improve software standards and engineering best practices within Starship Software.
  • Collaborate with software and hardware engineers to implement and debug software across application, operating system, networking, firmware, and simulation layers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, math, or a science discipline and 4+ years of software development experience, or 6+ years of professional software development experience in lieu of a degree.
  • 4+ years of experience with C++, Python, or Rust.
  • Proven skills and knowledge of C++, Rust, or another systems programming language.
  • Experience building or working with real-time embedded systems or distributed computing systems.
  • Experience designing fault-tolerant software.
  • Strong skills in debugging, performance optimization, and unit testing.
  • Thorough knowledge of computer architecture and networking.
  • Basic knowledge of electronics, controls, fluid systems, motor design, or physical mechanics.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team, take initiative, and communicate effectively.
  • Willingness to work long hours and weekends as needed.
  • ITAR eligibility as a U.S. citizen or national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee, or ability to obtain required U.S. Department of State authorizations.

  • Pay range of $160,000 to $225,000 per year for Software Engineering/Senior roles.
