Description

  • Design, develop, and manage automation projects from initial factory ideation through machine commissioning and handoff to operations.
  • Write, architect, and debug PLC code for high-volume manufacturing systems.
  • Implement safe and reliable controls for robots, gantries, conveyors, and other manufacturing equipment in compliance with applicable safety standards.
  • Create simple and intuitive HMI screens for operating and troubleshooting complex machinery.
  • Integrate equipment into master SCADA and MES systems.
  • Design electrical systems that comply with NEC, NFPA, and UL508A requirements.
  • Create schedules and budgets and drive the team to meet project milestones.
  • Take ownership of existing systems to optimize performance and develop new equipment.
  • Work across mechanical, electrical, software, and process disciplines to safely checkout systems before production implementation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, or a chemical discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in high-speed manufacturing, controls and automation, and/or programming.
  • Experience with quick, iterative design and manufacturing environments (preferred).
  • Proven ability to solve complex problems with simple solutions in both design and implementation stages (preferred).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to make collaborative, cross-functional recommendations (preferred).
  • Ability to engineer creative approaches while adhering to ANSI/RIA 15.06 and OSHA safety requirements (preferred).
  • Hazardous process experience in aerospace, oil and gas, or chemical industries involving high-pressure or hazardous fluids or gases (preferred).
  • Experience in at least one of the following areas: electrical/industrial controls or industrial software.
  • Experience sizing motors, valves, pneumatics, cables, circuit protection, VFDs, motor starters, and motion systems (preferred).
  • Experience with PLC programming, preferably Siemens TIA Portal or Beckhoff TwinCAT, and structured text plus ladder logic (preferred).
  • Ability to work long hours and weekends as necessary to support critical milestones.
  • Must meet ITAR export-control eligibility requirements as a U.S. citizen or national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, asylee, or otherwise eligible for required U.S. Department of State authorization.
