Description

  • Invent tools and processes that enable fast and correct software development.
  • Perform hands-on integration and troubleshooting across the Starship software stack.
  • Collaborate with counterpart teams to design, maintain, and improve on-premises compute resources.
  • Identify major problem areas and develop solutions that support the Starship program's software needs.
  • Own solutions end to end with high autonomy and accountability for software outcomes.
  • Work closely with peers to continuously improve development workflows and infrastructure.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of software engineering experience and a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, math, or a STEM discipline, or 9+ years of professional software development experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience with Bazel or similar build systems.
  • Fluency in Python, C++, Rust, or Go.
  • Experience building tools and infrastructure that impact hundreds of engineers daily.
  • Experience with AI-assisted development tools and interest in applying AI to improve code quality, testing, and development workflows.
  • Strong critical thinking and first-principles problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment while taking on high levels of responsibility and accountability.
  • Willingness to work long hours and weekends as needed.
  • Aerospace experience is not required.

Benefits

  • Base salary of $200,000 to $285,000 per year.
  • Eligibility for long-term incentives, including company stock or long-term cash awards.
  • Potential discretionary bonuses.
