Description

  • Own and evolve the identity data model, including coordinate schemas, cross-ecosystem mapping, deduplication, and re-discovery.
  • Architect streaming and batch data pipelines using Java, Spark/EMR, HBase, Databricks, and AWS primitives.
  • Design stable data contracts for downstream teams, including schema versioning, compatibility, and rollout coordination.
  • Lead ingestion of commercial vendor SBOM feeds and negotiate technical specifications with external engineering teams.
  • Apply AI/ML techniques to identity re-discovery, package deduplication, and data-quality signals.
  • Use AI-assisted engineering tools for coding, code review, investigation, and data exploration.
  • Raise the team’s reliability standards through alarm triage, SLO discipline, cost management, and incident response leadership.
  • Set technical direction for the team and partner with product and engineering leads on multi-quarter architectural decisions.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 3+ years at Staff level or equivalent scope.
  • Deep experience with data-platform engineering at scale, including streaming and batch pipelines and distributed storage.
  • Experience with Spark, HBase, Databricks, or comparable systems.
  • Strong Java proficiency, or a systems-programming background that will ramp quickly.
  • Track record with cross-team data contracts, including schema design, versioning, and backward compatibility.
  • AWS-native experience with EMR, S3, SNS, and SQS, plus sound cost/performance instincts.
  • Comfort working with ambiguity and in vendor-facing technical discussions.
  • Working fluency with AI-assisted engineering tools such as Claude or equivalent, used daily.
  • Sound judgment on where AI/ML is appropriate in a data pipeline and where it is not.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience working in an agile environment and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Package-ecosystem depth across Maven, npm, PyPI, Go modules, RPM, or Debian (preferred).
  • Experience with CycloneDX, VEX, or SPDX SBOM standards (preferred).
  • Prior work on entity resolution, deduplication, or record-linkage problems (preferred).
  • Open-source contributions in supply-chain, data-engineering, or package-ecosystem spaces (preferred).
