Description

  • Design flexible, resilient data pipelines and software components that avoid scaling issues and reduce maintenance costs.
  • Create coherent integration designs across pipelines and API boundaries, with monitoring and clear failure handling.
  • Improve developer efficiency by simplifying code and infrastructure.
  • Define and deliver technical roadmaps for large projects with cross-team dependencies.
  • Identify and resolve technical risks while executing against tight deadlines.
  • Remove technical and process blockers and share learnings to prevent recurring issues.
  • Partner with leadership to set team priorities and define success metrics for systems.
  • Collaborate across functions by writing clear narratives and supporting stakeholder decision-making.
  • Mentor less-experienced team members through coaching and feedback.
  • Participate in hiring for senior candidates and managers, including interviews and debriefs.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of industrial experience in software or data engineering.
  • Strong skills in PySpark, SQL, and Python.
  • Experience with modern object-oriented or compiled languages such as C#, C++, Go, Java, or Scala is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience with ETL tools and frameworks such as Apache Spark, Apache Airflow, dbt, Looker, or Superset.
  • Demonstrated expertise with data warehouse technologies such as Snowflake.
  • Strong understanding of data modeling concepts through production-grade implementations.
  • Proven track record of delivering complex cross-team projects from design through post-launch monitoring.
  • Ability to tailor technical communication to different audiences and connect business priorities to engineering choices.
  • Startup and healthcare experience is highly desirable.
