Description

  • Design, develop, and maintain backend product features across the SmithRx product suite.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, frontend engineers, Product Managers, and technical leads to define requirements and deliver scalable software.
  • Create technical design documentation and provide scope and risk estimates for system and feature builds.
  • Apply software development best practices, design patterns, testing, automation, and modern tools.
  • Use AWS services such as Lambda, DynamoDB, SQS, and RDS to support diverse jobs and batch processing.
  • Triage production issues, assess impact, and implement short-term and long-term mitigation plans.
  • Perform root-cause analysis for live service incidents.
  • Mentor junior engineers through design reviews, code reviews, and actionable feedback.
  • Help translate technical vision into a quarterly roadmap with senior leadership.
  • Explore and share new AI tools and technologies that improve software delivery speed and quality.

Requirements

  • BS or advanced degree in Computer Science, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 5-8 years of professional software development experience.
  • Experience at a high-growth startup or midsize tech company is a plus.
  • Strong experience with a compiled language such as Go, Java, C#, or C++; Go experience is a strong plus.
  • Proficiency with PostgreSQL, including schema design, SQL tuning, and database monitoring.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and implementing scalable APIs.
  • Strong understanding of GraphQL APIs, CI/CD pipelines, AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes.
  • Experience using GenAI tools to deliver high-quality production software is a plus.
  • A positive, non-dogmatic, team-first attitude with the flexibility to navigate ambiguity.
  • Ability to work independently, forecast milestones accurately, and manage stakeholder expectations.
