Description

  • Lead customer discovery and early implementation architecture for scalable healthcare data solutions.
  • Provide architectural oversight and technical guidance through implementation and post-go-live phases.
  • Evaluate requirements and recommend approaches for performance tuning, ingestion workflows, bundle design, and terminology mapping.
  • Collaborate with Product, Engineering, QA, delivery teams, Solution Architects, and Technical Account Managers to resolve architectural issues and improve products.
  • Refactor solution designs in response to delivery constraints, scalability issues, deployment challenges, and new information.
  • Participate in customer meetings, design reviews, retrospectives, change discussions, escalations, and technical decision-making.
  • Contribute to architecture review boards, design documentation, reusable delivery assets, and solution playbooks.
  • Stay current on Smile’s platform, technical stack, roadmap, and applicable healthcare regulations.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering, technical consulting, or solution architecture, ideally supporting complex healthcare implementations.
  • Experience leading customer-facing architecture and design discussions with payer, provider, or government healthcare organizations.
  • Experience with real-time data ingestion technologies such as Kafka, Camel, or Pulsar and FHIR-based data workflows.
  • Strong knowledge of clinical data modeling and terminology mapping, including SNOMED CT, RxNorm, and LOINC.
  • Experience with cloud-native architecture and deployment on AWS, Azure, or GCP using Docker, Helm, and Kubernetes.
  • Ability to assess technical trade-offs and adapt designs to emerging constraints during delivery.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with solution diagramming tools such as Lucidchart or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with U.S. healthcare regulations, including CMS interoperability mandates, HIPAA, and data-access governance (preferred).
  • Experience with Smile CDR or other FHIR server platforms, Inferno, NIST validators, similar conformance tools, or TOGAF certification (preferred).
