Description

  • Conduct Phase 1 AI readiness assessments for small law firms, including technology audits, data infrastructure mapping, compliance review, readiness scoring, opportunity analysis, tool demos, workflow implementation, and final report delivery.
  • Deliver AI coaching sessions during Phase 1 engagements and serve as an on-call AI advisor for Phase 2 retainer clients.
  • Manage ongoing Phase 2 retainer relationships through monthly check-ins, dashboard maintenance, AI tool adoption oversight, and light IT/security tasks.
  • Coordinate with SMB Team sales on the client pipeline and support pre-sales scoping calls and proposal development.
  • Stay current on legal AI tools and evolving market options, and update SMB Team’s recommended stack accordingly.
  • Document all client-facing work in SMB Team systems and contribute reusable templates and playbooks to the practice library.
  • Flag blockers, scope changes, and delivery risks to the CTO in a timely manner.
  • Represent SMB Team professionally in client-facing interactions and help drive revenue and client impact.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in a technology leadership role such as CTO, VP Engineering, Director of IT, or equivalent.
  • Experience in a client-facing or consulting capacity strongly preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with AI tools and workflows, including generative AI applications in professional services contexts.
  • Ability to independently conduct technology and data infrastructure audits.
  • Comfort with cloud platforms such as M365 and Google Workspace, practice management software, and integration tooling.
  • Clear, confident communication skills and the ability to explain AI concepts to non-technical law firm leadership.
  • Familiarity with the legal technology landscape preferred, including tools like Clio, NetDocuments, Harvey, and Casetext.
  • Experience writing structured deliverables.
  • Ability to own Phase 1 engagements from kickoff through report delivery without hand-holding.
  • Professional presence and willingness to serve as the face of SMB Team with law firm clients.
  • Genuine intellectual curiosity about the legal industry and willingness to learn it quickly.
  • Must be current on generative AI tools and able to demonstrate them credibly to non-technical audiences.
  • Must be willing to work within SMB Team’s systems and contribute to shared playbooks.
  • Availability for client-facing work during standard business hours.
  • Occasional travel to client sites may be required.
