Description

Contribute to the core infrastructure that supports Smartsheet's foundational systems.
Collaborate daily in a mob programming environment with collective code ownership.
Help manage and upgrade large-scale database infrastructure and complex replication topologies.
Automate core operational tasks using AWS, Golang, MySQL, Terraform, Temporal, and GitLab-CI.
Write and maintain test-driven code to support resilient systems before production.
Participate in team book clubs and psychologically safe retrospectives to improve engineering practices.
Share responsibility for system health through a supportive on-call rotation.
Troubleshoot complex technical problems related to stability and scale of large systems.

Requirements

Proficiency in at least one modern programming language with backend development experience.
Go experience is a plus but not required; Java or Python backgrounds translate well.
Strong desire to learn Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
Interest in understanding database internals and reliability, especially MySQL.
Comfort working in a mob programming environment and sharing system ownership.
Ability to write test-driven code and collaborate closely with teammates.
Strong problem-solving skills for troubleshooting complex technical issues.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent capability.
Legally authorized to work in the United States on an ongoing basis.
