Description

  • Lead the design, development, and validation of scalable interfaces between SmarterDx and hospital or health system EHRs such as Epic, Cerner, and Meditech.
  • Serve as the technical lead in customer engagements with CIOs, IT leaders, interface teams, CDI and coding leaders, and implementation sponsors.
  • Own integrations end to end, including specifications, mapping, configuration, testing strategy, go-live planning, and production stabilization.
  • Lead data validation and reconciliation to ensure integrity, completeness, and interoperability compliance.
  • Design for reliability and observability, including monitoring, alerting, traceability, replay strategies, and operational runbooks.
  • Troubleshoot complex production issues and lead incident response, root cause analysis, and remediation.
  • Improve integration operations by automating repetitive implementation and validation tasks.
  • Track evolving interoperability standards and translate them into actionable guidance for clients and internal teams.
  • Advise engineering on schemas, data contracts, mapping approaches, and integration tooling based on field experience.
  • Support high-priority production issues through an after-hours Tier 3 rotation.

Requirements

  • 7-12+ years building, deploying, and supporting hospital-based HL7v2 interfaces at scale.
  • Advanced experience with interface engine architecture and operations, including modular design, maintainability, performance, and supportability.
  • Exceptional executive communication skills and experience influencing senior health system leaders.
  • Proven expertise in scalable database extraction architecture, including performance tuning, indexing strategy, and downstream data validation.
  • Significant experience enabling FHIR R4 APIs/resources and SMART on FHIR workflows.
  • Strong ability to explain HL7v2 message flows, FHIR interactions, and data mapping logic in business terms.
  • Hands-on experience with JavaScript or Python for transformation or workflow automation.
  • SQL fluency for validation, reconciliation, and troubleshooting across complex datasets.
  • Familiarity with data transfer security best practices such as TLS, HTTPS, and VPN configuration.
  • Experience working autonomously and driving process improvements amid ambiguity and changing priorities.
  • Experience advising health system leadership while remaining involved in day-to-day technical execution, including production support.
  • Deep knowledge of hospital workflows, clinical data structures, semantic interoperability standards, and revenue cycle data flows (preferred).
  • Background in clinical informatics or certified health IT credentials such as HL7, FHIR, Mirth Connect, Rhapsody, Cloverleaf, or EHR certifications (preferred).
  • Advanced Rhapsody architecture and operations experience (strongly preferred).
  • Experience with EHR data extraction and transfer patterns, including flat file and X12 transfers via SFTP (preferred).
  • Participation in HL7 or FHIR working groups, or contributions to open-source healthcare integration tools (preferred).
  • Entrepreneurial, builder-oriented mindset with strong ownership (preferred).
  • Familiarity with the listed tech stack: Rhapsody, AWS, Snowflake, JIRA, and HL7Spy.
